Saturday, October 28, 2006

/dev/null It has been a while since I updated this website I know. Been so hectic at my job its not even funny. That being aside, lets stay on topic here. Yes it is true, Che is giving away his blood and it is saving lives! Read more

At the company I work for, the Red Cross usually comes in and sets up their shop in our AV (Audio/Video) presentation room where employees can donate blood. I've decided to do it for a worthy cause and thought others would probably do the same for me and I want to make a difference. So it was my first time donating to the Red Cross, they asked several questions that were on a laptop, passed the first test, then they pricked my finger and got a couple of drops of blood into a cheap syringe. Then they had a some type of special fluid that they dropped my blood in to test my iron ratio to blood ratio. It was kind of cool watching your blob of blood go down this tube and it had to reach the bottom in fifteen seconds. After that they took my blood and gave me juice and cookies. Ahh... the memories, being in third grade and having juice and cookies.

Couple of weeks later, Red Cross sent me a letter that told me my blood type, a special card that identifies my blood and if I ever need it, they can immediately send it from the nearest blood bank. Cool stuff.

Fast forward to now, I get a phone call on my cell going back home and it was a Red Cross representative asking if I can come back in to donate some more blood. I'm thinking, well, isn't Type O the gold blood that is universal and can work with everyone elses? By the way, my mom has type O blood and she thinks she is special, hah.

Anyway, they said that the Red Cross is in need of my type of blood and they are asking if I could donate some more. He said that I have already saved 3 lives! 3 lives! Imagine that. Incredible, someone's life is priceless, not let alone, I saved three and I'm going to save more because I am going to donate more blood! I feel so special and that phone call really made me feel good, especially these days when it has been really hard on me. So I'm going in tomorrow to the nearest Red Cross and will be donating my blood to save more lives! You think I'm gloating? Maybe so, but it is my website and I get to star in it.

1-800-GIVE-LIFE Make a difference.

One day you might be in need of blood because of a serious incident. Wouldn't you feel better knowing that there are others like me that are willing to help? Help too!
